ITEC PBHC JAMAICA LAUNCH

The long awaited international training programmes offering training in the Health and wellness industry through ITEC in England will launch in Jamaica on December 4, 2015. The historical event will be hosted by PBHC Jamaica, School of Holistic Therapies and held at Coconut Grove Shopping Complex, Ocho Rios, between 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

The project was conceptualized by Patricia Berry Greenidge, Principal of PBHC School Inc., and the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries Inc. which foreshadowed or anticipated this event as part of the vision of the CARTFund Health and Wellness Project. They seek to equip countries within CARIFORUM with the competencies to create products of excellence in the wellness sector.

Jamaica Launch

The first graduating class of PBHC Jamaica, comprised of ten graduates, who completed the programme and received their Holistic Massage Diplomas from the International Therapy Education Council on March 14, 2015. It is important to note that the ten students from Jamaica all received distinctions in their practical exams, a first in ITEC history. Colleagues in Belize, Dominica, and Trinidad & Tobago also completed the six-month course of study and received their International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) certification. Over 40 students in the Caribbean have received the ITEC qualification to date. Jamaica’s thrust towards standards development was crystallized when the Bureau of Standards Jamaica’s Spa Standards Development Steering Committee’s final draft was accepted, and placed through the approval process. The result of which was then issued to CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) for use within the Caribbean.

Offering ITEC Certification

The launch signals the readiness of PBHC to upgrade to international standards Health & Wellness therapists who desire to be at the top of their careers and to earn top salaries on par with their US and UK counterparts. “ITEC qualifications are the best way to start careers in the Beauty, Hairdressing, Complementary Therapy, Sports industries and Customer Service Business.” (itecworld.co.uk). PBHC Jamaica offering ITEC certification will be operated by Patricia Berry Greenidge of Barbados and Janice McLeod of Jamaica. Classes will begin in January 2016 in the beautiful resort town of Ocho Rios, the perfect place to study and vacation.
